The best way to experience the joy of flying is to take a discovery flight. You’ll get a first hand experience of what it’s like flying a small plane.

What can you expect on a discovery flight? You’ll meet with a Certified Flight Instructor before flying who will go over a pre-flight briefing. Together you’ll do a pre-flight check of the plane, you’ll look at the weather, and talk about the route of flight.

Our discovery flights depart Waupaca Airport and are about a half hour of flying over the beautiful Chain O’ Lakes. You will be in the left seat or “Pilot’s Seat” of the aircraft, and once flying will be able to take the controls and maneuver the plane if you so wish. We encourage everyone on a discovery flight to take the controls, as to get a real feel for what it’s like to fly. Of course there will also be an opportunity to take in the scenery and taking photos/videos is approved. There is always a commercial pilot/instructor on board who can take over on the controls, if you want to snap that perfect selfie over the Chain.

When you return to Waupaca Airport your instructor will safely land the plane. While every flight has to end, you’ll return to the ground with memories that will last for a lifetime. Ask us how we know!

Discovery flights are great for anyone with a passing interest in aviation, but are also a great first step for those looking to start flight instruction.
